GREAT EXCITEMENT AT SODUS OVER BURGLARS

from The Clyde Times, Clyde, N.Y. -  April 19, 1906

When Taken to That Village for an Examination it is said That More Than 4,000 People Gathered to See Them Last Week.

The middle of least week the Sodus bank robbers who are confined in the Wayne County Jail., were taken to Sodus for examination. They were under a heavy guard consisting of Sheriff Yeomans, Under-Sheriff Huntley, Deptuty Sheriff's Collins, Atwood, Marcellus, and Prevost. They were taken to Sodus by way of Newark and the Northern Central.
They were taken to the old Opera House in Sodus and arraigned before Justice Kelley.  At the time It is estimated that there were no less than 4,000 people on hand to get a view of the, desperados.  A number of people whose evidence was expected to throw some light on the attempted bank robbery and the killing officer Pullman were examined, but no specially important evidence was elicited.  It was hoped that, by examining the prisoners at Sodus many persons might have an opportunity of seeing them who might have seen them about before the Crime.
The men were returned to Lyons jail. In the past few days it is said that some very important evidence has been secured which is expected to go a long way toward convicting the prisoners. There is a very strong feeling in Sodus and elsewhere the men confined at Lyons are the men who attempted to rob the Sodus bank and killed officer Pullman.
