•  I am going away on vacation, can the Wayne County Sheriff's Office watch my house for me?- Yes, call the non emergency number (315) 946-9711 and tell the dispatcher that you would like the Sheriff's Office to check your property while you are away. The dispatcher fills out a property check form which is turned over to deputies who will check your residence or business periodically while you are away. You will be required to provide some information such as dates you will be away, names and numbers of contact persons, key holders etc.

•  Will the Sheriff's Office unlock my car if I lock my keys inside?- The Wayne County Sheriff's Office will assist with lockouts in emergency circumstances only, such as, children or animals locked inside.

•  When can I get my child's car seat inspected/installed? - The Wayne County Sheriff's Office currently has Deputies that are NYS certified in installing car seats in automobiles. You can stop at one of our scheduled car seat inspections which are held at public areas around Wayne County monthly. You can also make an appointment with Deputy Bill Benedict by calling (315) 946-9711.
  

•  How Do I Get A Copy Of A Report? - Copies of reports are available at the Records Department of the Sheriff's Office when available during business hours 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  A $15.00 fee is charged. 
  
•  I need fingerprints taken for a job/license application, pistol permit, or adoption - can the Wayne County Sheriff's Office help me? - Yes, come to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Records Department during business hours. (  Mon - Fri 8 a.m to 3:00 p.m. - NO PISTOL PERMITS INITIATED AFTER 3:00 PM) A fee of $5.00 per card is charged.
  
•  How do I get a photo ID from the Sheriff's Office? - The Wayne County Sheriff's Office Records Department offers Personal Photo Identification Cards. PAPERWORK REQUIRED: An original birth certificate or certified copy is required along with existing ID or form with a signature on it to match the birth certificate (examples : social security card, driver's license, credit cards). Also if the applicant is a female and she is married, she has to supply an original or certified copy of a marriage license. If the person is under 18, they must have a parent or legal guardian accompany them to sign the application form. The parent or guardian has to supply ID proving they are the parent.  Under no circumstances will Xerox copies be accepted. ID Cards are available Monday through Friday 8AM - 3:45PM. The fee is $5.00 cash only.

•  Criminal Records Checks - Criminal record checks can be made at our Records Department, Mon-Fri. 8AM to 3:45pm. You must have ID. The only arrests we can release are ones made by the Wayne Co. Office of Sheriff only, it cannot include State Police, other police agencies or other county arrests.
